| Though born in Copenhagen, Morten Andersen was raised in Struer, Denmark. As a student, he was a gymnast and long jumper, and barely missed becoming a member of the Danish junior national soccer team. |
| Morten Andersen came to America in 1977 as a foreign exchange student to Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He then went on to star at Michigan State University where he broke school records such as most PATs (126) and most points (261). He also set a Big 10 then-record of most field goals (45). Morten was also named to the Big Ten's All Academic Team with a 3.25 GPA. |
| Andersen was drafted in the fourth round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints and he played there for 13 seasons. He played for many other teams including the Atlanta Falcons (twice), New York Giants (2001), Kansas City Chiefs (2002-2003), and Minnesota Vikings (2004). |
| The NFL 2007 season saw him as a member of the Atlanta Falcons for for the second year running. Morten Andersen kicked a game-winning field goal in overtime in the 1998 NFC Championship Game to beat the Minnesota Vikings and send the Falcons to its first-ever Super Bowl appearance. Andersen scored in Super Bowl XXXIII 8 point (2 Field Goals og 2 extra points). At 47, he is the oldest active NFL player. Morten Andersen also played for the Falcons from 1995 to 2000. |
