| Biography of Morten Ramsbøl |
|
|
| My name is Morten Ramsbøl (32). I am married to Marianne with whom I have three sons. In June 1998 I finished the 4-year rhythmical education (BA) at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, DK, with the acoustic bass as my main instrument. |
| In the summer of 2000 i also finished the Special Students Diploma Year at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus. During this year, I studied under some of the best teachers in the world. This brought me to New York during the fall of 1999 for a 3 week study - kindly supported by the Idella Foundation. |
| And now, once again, I'm heading for New York to study under Master bassist Dave Holland, (played w. Miles Davis and Pat Metheny) who is considered among the top 5 of jazzbass players in the world today. To be accepted as one of his students is a great opportunity for me to meet a true master "one-on-one", develop my playing even more and recieve muscial and technical guidance on the highest level possible. Since Mr. Holland is also a fantastic composer,! will also be able to share my own compositions and recieve constructive critisism on my own work. My plan is to stay 4 weeks in NYC in February 2003 and visit Mr. Holland on a weekly basis and practice 4-6 hours daily. |
| In February 2002, I released my first CD as a leader: "Short Stay" (MusicMecca CD - 3076-2) which features the legendary drummer Joey Baron. The recording recieved good reviews in the media. This band is set to play a major tour of Denmark in April 2003 and also do a new recording. |
| I now work as a bass teacher at a conservatory prep-school (Holstebro MGK) and as a student advisor at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus. My schedule is also very busy playing freelance with various artists and groups from all over Scandinavia. |
